About BoredomBash

A hand-curated directory of internet destinations. Established 2013.

What BoredomBash is

BoredomBash is a curated directory of independent and lesser-known websites across 23 categories. The site has been running since 2013 on a single premise: the open web contains thousands of interesting, useful, and unusual destinations that mainstream search results rarely surface. BoredomBash provides editorial coverage of those destinations.

The directory contains 352+ hand-selected destinations. There are no paid placements, no algorithmic rankings, and no auto-generated entries. Every listing reflects an editorial decision based on category-specific criteria.

How it works

Every destination in the directory was reviewed and selected by a human editor. The criteria vary by category — Useless Websites are selected for pure pointlessness, Hidden Gems are selected for being quietly excellent and underrated, Internet Classics are selected for genuine historical significance and still being live.

The "Trending" block on each page is sorted by heat score — an editorial signal that is updated weekly based on engagement and editorial review. It is not derived from real-time analytics.

The "Surprise Me" button selects a random destination from the catalog, weighted toward higher-heat entries.

Editorial standards

BoredomBash is not a content farm, an AI-generated aggregator, or a paid-placement directory. We do not accept payment for listings, do not scrape other directories, and review every submission against category-specific editorial criteria.

The overall submission acceptance rate is approximately 14%. Acceptance rates are lower in well-stocked categories and higher in Hidden Gems (approximately 22%), where the category's purpose is to surface lesser-known sites.
